January 10, 2022 — The members of the Liech community Association in Kenya (LCAK) are shocked and saddened by the sudden demise of their Elder, father and Brother, Stephen Dayak Biel which occurred in Nairobi on 7th January, 2022. The Late Stephen Dayak Biel had just arrived in Nairobi from the capital Juba a week prior to his departure.

On 1st January, 2022, he was with family and colleagues while in a jovial mood during the new year prayer service and celebrations. It is with deep sorry that we are now communicating and coming to terms with his untimely death. There are arrangements for his body to be taken for burial in Mayiandit county, Unity State.

On behalf of the Liech community Association in Kenya (LCAK) and on my own behalf, we pass our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to his immediate family, relatives, friends, government, SPLM-IO and by extension the office of the First Vice President of South Sudan as well as Unity State government following the passing on of Stephen Dayak Biel.

We note with respect that besides serving in the Supreme Liech community Elders’ committee 2020, Stephen Dayak Biel was a dedicated and loyal son of South Sudan who Fought in the armed struggle for our independence since he was a little boy.

Late Stephen Dayak was a humble man of ideas who had made friends with both young and old in our community. We regret that Death has permanently robbed us of a wise and peaceful man, who is a South Sudan and Liech community stalwart. To us, the late Stephen Dayak Biel was a mediator and counselor whom we often reach out for consultation on matters of progress, unity and harmony. Late Stephen Dayak Biel was a people’s person who doesn’t hesitate when his services are needed.

These are traits of our departed Elder, Father and Brother Stephen Dayak Biel that South Sudanese would like to emulate as we strive for social cohesion and nation building. Once gain please accept our deepest condolences.

MAY ALMIGHTY GOD REST HIS SOUL IN ETERNAL PEACE

Dak Buoth Riek-Gaak,

Chairman, Liech Community Association in Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya
