Let’s Get Rid of Popups on Nyamilepedia and Strengthen its Security

December 9, 2019(Nyamilepedia) — Since 2015 Nyamilepedia has faced several security challenges. In addition to being hacked and blacklisted, the website has been banned by the government of South Sudan after the government tried to curtail free speech but failed due to existence of online media outlets like Nyamilepedia. Instead the government ordered the local network companies, which are based in Juba to blacklist our domains so that our readers could not gain access to Nyamilepedia websites. In addition, the regime and its sympathizers employed IT experts to hack and delete our websites, which has proven difficult within the last 4 years but we know it is not impossible.

Within the last 6 years our website has been hacked more than 5 times and our technical experts did all they could to recover the website, however, our readers continue to experience a lot of popups that create a very high bounce rate. Having made all attempts to clean all the existing bots and the problem persists, we have decided to approach third party experts to do this job for us and keep our security in check. We believe that this will resolve the current pop-up problem and that will change your user experience completely.

To protect and maintain our independence, we therefore request our readership to contribute whatever they can so that we can continue to offer a free service that you will all enjoy. With your contribution, Nyamilepedia will make sure that our website is free of pop-ups and that will also reduce our downtime by a big margin.
