17th September, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —-The International Youth for Africa (IYA) has called on Government of South Sudan to immediately reopen the Nation Mirror newspaper. Security services ordered the independent daily to close on Wednesday morning, according to its management in Juab, South Sudan. . IYA was started in 2015 to respond to the increasing demand for a collective platform for research, training and policy advocacy for young people by young people in South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, Somalia and Ethiopia

The International Youth for Africa (IYA) is regional and nongovernment organization and non profit making organization with head office in Kampala-Uganda. The IYA activities include Peace reconciliation, dialogue between communities, Transitional Justice, documenting and reporting human rights violation against women, refugee’s rights children’s rights, working with community groups to promote women’s rights through increased participation of women in local government, promoting the education rights of girls, and raising awareness of women’s rights through public campaigns.
In article 24 of South Sudan Transitional Constitution 2011
Freedom of Expression and Media (i) Every citizen shall have the right to the freedom of expression, reception and dissemination of information, publication, and access to the press without prejudice to public order, safety or morals as prescribed by law. (2) All levels of government shall guarantee the freedom of the press and other media as shall be regulated by law in a democratic society.
President Salva Kiir should understand the importance of social media to the society and therefore, IYA urging him to orders his Security Personnel to reopen the Mirror Newspaper on time without delayed. The voices of citizens must be heard on things that matter to the nation.
Many Journalists have been killed in South Sudan since the Independence in 2011 includes the late John Gatluak Manguet Nhial, who has been killed on 13th July, 2016 in front of his friends in Juba.
South Sudan has serious human rights violation in 21st century and atrocities committed in the country since the commencement of South Sudan’s crisis in 2013-2016. With evidences on rapes of IDPs women, shooting of IDPs in UN premises, killing and raping of international female aid workers and killing of a journalists in the Juab during July fighting between forces of President Salva Kiir and those loyal to former First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny on 8th July, 2016.
Government must respect of International Human Rights Law and Humanitarian Law in order for the country to move forward. Real government must accept the criticism from within and the outside in the country. Developments come with so many stages.
