December 15, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— 15th December, 2013 is the darkest day in the history of the youngest nation on earth. On this day the government of the Republic of South Sudan turned its guns on innocent Nuer ethnic people killing tenth of thousands children, women and men. The reason for this brutal killing was attributed to an internal power struggle between President Salva Kiir and his former Vice President Dr. Riek Machar in the SPLM ruling party.

As a result, the young nation immediately drifted in to this current civil war that has claimed the lives of tenth of thousands innocent civilian souls and huge destruction of public and private infrastructures throughout the country and still going on to date.

In July 2016, another Juba massacre took place at J1-Presidential Palace and later on engulfs the capital city/ Juba and the country at large where hundreds of souls were lost as a result of a new power struggle between the President and his First Vice President.

The question is: What powers these leaders were looking for when both of them were holding the highest political and administrative positions in the nation?

We call on the Government of the Republic of South Sudan and all political actors in the government or in the opposition to put the interest of the country and its people over and above party interest and realistically and genuinely silence the guns throughout the country with immediate effect. Let us all commit ourselves to peaceful resolution of the conflict and make 2017 a year of peace in South Sudan.

We also call on IGAD-Plus, AU, TROIKA and UNSC to hold an all-inclusive dialogue between the Government of the Republic of South Sudan (GRSS) and all opposition groups with the aim of expanding, reviewing and improving the current Agreement (ARCISS) by making it more inclusive instead of the current SPLM affairs (93% to the three factions of the SPLM which is IG, IO and FDs).

Finally, this tragic civil war can be used as an opportunity to transform South Sudan to a nation that embraces its ethnics, geographical and political diversity.
