Bishop Santo Laku Denounces Fatal Shooting On Christmas Eve in Yei

Dec 27, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– Bishop Santo Loku Pio, the Auxiliary Bishop of Juba Catholic Archdiocese denounces the killing of civilians on Christmas Eve in the capital of Yei River County where at least two people were killed.

Speaking during a Christmas prayer at St. Catholic Parish in Juba, South Sudan, Bishop Laku says lack of truth and justice from the politicians will continue to cause more suffering to South Sudanese in the country.

Bishop Laku urges leaders and citizens to do right things to stop suffering of South Sudanese citizens saying many Christians did not celebrate Christmas with joy like before.

“Soldiers are miscalculating their bullets against innocent people and they must stop it immediately” Laku said.

According to local resident of Yei at least two people were killed in Yei at the evening hours in Yei River State capital.

David Lokonga Moses,the Governor of Yei State, told Christians at Emmanuel Cathedral on Christmas Day that the deceased were indiscriminately killed the by SPLA in Government forces.

“The bodies were dumped into a stream along Yei-Maridi road” the Governor said without promising any punishment or justice for the victims.

Governor Lokonga describes the attack as a serious provocation and Yei River State has been experiencing insecurity following the outbreak of clashes in Juba in July 2016.

“Relative calm has returned to the state capital after a new force intervened” he said..

In a related case, Christians of Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan in Yei River state celebrated Christmas despite random gunshots.

According to press, gunshots were heard as Christians were listening to the first reading of the English morning mass.

Government officials including Yei State Governor David Lokonga among others were at the mass at the time of shooting, however, shooting in Yei which involve killing of innocent civilians is no longer a news here.

Bishop Hillary Luate Adeba consoles the panicking Christians that the church is the safest place for them to be.

The Bishop describes the shooting as a “temptation and intentions of the devil”.

State Governor Lokonga assures Christians that God and the government are in control of the situation.

The leaders made the remarks at Emmanuel Cathedral on Christmas Day.

On the same occasion, the Jubek State Governor said “political and economic philosophy of not listening to citizens’ voices will never help South Sudan.

Augustino Jadallah Wani stresses the need to have vocational schools to transform people of South Sudan.

Speaking during a Christmas Carol at Jubek State secretariat over the weekend, governor Augustino stresses that such a vocational training would be led by South Sudanese because giving employments to foreigners partly contribute to South Sudanese crises.

“Bringing foreigners to do casual labour affects the economy of the young nation” The governor said.

even if you preach to them bishop; their hearts are full of devil and they don’t feel like they cause the suffering of innocents people in south Sudan in fact only God will make change to his people not our fake politicians enjoying the blood of their people with deadly regime in juba instead to fight the right of the citizens as the work they were elected for.
