July 12, 2022I would like to start this notable article with these words, let us labor continually to keep the advance in civilization as it becomes us to do after the struggles of the past, so that the rights to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which we have honorably secured, may be firmly entailed upon the ever enlarging generations of mankind.

The future, progress, and development of our great country South Sudan does not depend solely on technological advancements but on how we build social cohesion and trust between our Nation and its people. Let’s continue building a great Nation we can all rely on and be proud of.

As a Nation, we need good leaders who we can trust—the kind of leaders who always put the public’s well-being above their political or personal interests so that the yearnings and aspirations of the common people can be realized.

As we celebrate our Nation’s Independence, let’s remember our past leaders who lost their lives in the battle for the freedom we are enjoying today.

Freedom does not come so easily. We are all indebted to our National heroes who made this country what it is today. As patriotic citizens, let’s put extra effort into performing our own civic responsibilities.

A Day to feel proud of being a part of this great Nation, let the spirit of patriotism glow in us, let the struggles of our heroes for independence not be in vain. Our diversity should not be seen as a weakness but as our greatest strength. It is only by working together that we can build a resilient and thriving Nation.

We are fighting for our right to live, to exist. And should we win, 9nd July will no longer be known as just South Sudan independence, but as the day when South Sudanese declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight.

In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation between both Children, Youth and Elders and in generally South Sudanese. There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending, if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained, we must fight! I repeat it, fellow South Sudanese, we must fight!

It is a fact that majority of the very resilient and industrious youths of South Sudan local and National governments are progressively and voluntarily queueing behind the President of the Republic of South Sudan Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit.

It is the believe of the youths of the country that a progressive and youth conscious President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit will not only recognise the important place of the youths in local or National development but also create an enabling environment that will empower them to maximize their potentials.

In President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit youths see an embodiment of youth-centred leader and administrator, President urged the country to go further to create a system that provides equal opportunities for young people, ensure the growth of small and medium scale enterprises while reiterating his commitment to using the instrument of South Sudan to better the lots of South Sudanese youths as a current pillars of the Country.

This is a tip of the many youth-focused programmes and projects that will be implemented very soon.

It is not patriotic to concert measures against one another; it is patriotic to concert measures for one another. That a new civilization should come, a new spirit should rise on this side of Africa more advanced and more developed in its regard for the rights of the individual than that which characterized the South Sudan factor.

Notwithstanding the picture we have this day presented of the state of the nation, we do not despair of this country. There are good Citizens in South Sudan, which must inevitably work the progress of the Country. “The arm of the Lord is not shortened,” and the doom of the Country is certain. We, therefore, leave off where we began, with hope. While drawing encouragement from the Declaration Day of our Independence, the great principles it contains, and the genius of the South Sudan spirit.

In times when we fall short of South Sudan’s promise, let’s not look away from our flaws and faults, but admit them freely and tackle them openly. Not merely for our own sake, but for countless others in far off lands. They don’t expect a country that is perfect, a country that has arrived; instead, they’re looking for a country that knows where it’s going like them, chasing that shining city on a hill.

I, pray that peace continue to thrive in our homeland and may this spirit of freedom leads us all to success and brighter future to our great Nation. I pray your new year will be filled with joy.

May I, end this Article with the kind words of Oliver Wendell Holmes;

“It is easy to understand the bitterness which is often shown toward reformers. They are never general favorites. They are apt to interfere with vested rights and time honored interests. They often wear an unlovely, and forbidding aspect.”

Happy independence day.

God bless Gen. AAK

God bless Dr. SKM.

God bless S. Sudanese.

God bless S. Sudan.

South Sudan can be better,

And better more.
