Dec 19, 2021 — The end year thanksgiving dinner organized by the Lou-Nuer youth elders’ forum in honor of Hon. Denay Jock Chagor for his tireless effort in peace building among communities in Jonglei State and with the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA). The forum was initiated by highly learned Lou-Nuer sons and daughters.

Recognizing an inspiring leadership demonstrated by Gov. Chagor, making use of political and intellectual influences to embark on coordinating efforts aiming at ending vicious feuds among communities in Jonglei State as well as with neighbors were primary objectives of (LN-YEF).

 Many historians, intellectuals and community’s leaders referred to a ‘thanksgiving Dinner in honor of Governor Chagor’ as first of its kind for Lou Nuer to organize such a colorful event honoring any Lou Nuer leader at the top echelon in history. They congratulated Governor Chagor for the great service rendered. Adding that his tireless effort to bring about peace in Jonglei State is a direct attribute to a prestigious recognition of his fair and democratic leadership.

On the same note, moving presentations were made by Lou Nuer intellectuals ranging on number of topics: in context of Lou Nuer, Jonglei State and South Sudan complex situation:

  1. Peace and security presented by Gatkuoth Riek Lam;
  2. Peaceful co. existence in Lou Nuer with neighbors presented by Lawyer Deng Gai Gatluak;
  3. Humanitarian intervention presented by Dr. Gatluak Khot Keat;
  4. Lou Nuer political strategy presented by Paul Ruot Choap;
  5. Good governance and rule of law presented by Lawyer Both Kong Nguth.

In attendance were Lou Nuer MPs, from national and State Assemblies Chairpersons/members of independent commissions, former Constitutional post holders and youth drawn from PoC and Juba’s suburbs. Artists in Names of Duop Pur Duop, Tut Khor Banaang and Marry Tarip, Counties leaders, Lou Nuer Youth Chairperson elect and Chairperson of Lou Nuer youth’s EC were in attendance. SG for Lou Nuer Triple Alliance among other officials were also present.

In an official opening and closing remarks. Governor Chagor reiterated that he is committed to work with Lou Nuer youth from all walks of lives.I regret not supporting you and I expect not in return for I’m your Governor I will always be there for all of you no matter who you support or which party you subscribe to. Chagor eloquently appreciated diversity in terms of political formations. Governor Chagor added that parties must not be used as tools to divide us. But political formations are avenues for which we can structure ourselves in more decent ways especially in areas of service delivery and peaceful co. existence among communities.

I came here as a Lou Nuer Son not as a Governor. I will work with those willing to conform by the rule of law and play by the same rule regardless of political affiliations.

Lou Nuer youth from all political divides assured Governor Chagor and his government of their full support.

On behalf of my colleague Nyamim Gai Nyamim, I’m honored and humbled for the trust placed on us by Lou Nuer Youth Elders Forum to moderate a rare and highly intellectual event as M.Cs. Equally, I would like to register our apologies to those who might not have a chance to speak due to time constraints. Tomorrow is another day and thank you very much for your time and patience.

My Best,
