May 2, 2021 — With great pleasure I am here to congratulate Gawaar Community in Juba, our friends from different communities who came to share with us the day. Thank you all for the solidarity you have shown yesterday at the Freedom Hall.

This historical event has shown that the Gawaar Community has a great concern on the flooding situation in our hometown. They wholeheartedly came to empathize and give whatever each person has for a sake of our innocent victims of the flood. Our participation has really shown that we care for each other. When there is no government to support, let’s try what we have to support our people who have no other alternatives for their lives and livelihoods. Historically that was what we did yesterday. A community that stands together always has a mechanism to deal with any kind of threats which should affect their welfare.

I thank God the almighty who has made the day happen as planned. The event was due to take place on the 6th of February 2021, but due to a surge in COVID_19 pandemic, where the National taskforce on COVID_19 imposed a partial lockdown on 3rd of February three days to the event banning all social gathering which affected the occasion. But God knows when things have to happen. Glory be to the lord for the great day.

Thank you to all invited guests for accepting the invitation from Gawaar Community asking to share the great concern we undergo. Your participation and humbleness has been acknowledged by the Community you help and you will remain our friends indeed. That appreciation goes to following invited guest

  1. Hon. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, Minister of presidential Affairs who was the Guest of Honour.
  2. Hon. Puot Kang Chol, Minister of petroleum, who was special guest.
  3. Hon. Thiik Thiik Mayardit, Deputy Mayor Juba city Council, who was the chief guest.
  4. Hon. Peter Gatwech Kulang, undersecretary in the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management who was the patron of the day.
  5. Hon. Samuel Maker, Minister of Information lake State plus many others whom I can not manage to mention their names.

Thanks to all brothers and sisters who put this initiative in their prayers asking God to make it happen, your prayers have been answered.

I also thank all brothers and sisters who are physically far from us but spiritually with us in supporting and generating the success of this idea, especially the leadership of Gawaar Global Community led by the Chairperson Mr. Deng Elijah. Accept our appreciation.

Thank to Gawaar Community elders who stood with us financially and ideologically during the consultation. The genesis and success of this initiative is in Your hands. Accept our appreciation.

My great pleasure to the steering Committee for Ayod Flood Response Initiative (AFRI) who devoted their precious time to make sure that days like this have to happen. My dear brothers despite all the sabotage we have been going through but because we were doing the welfare of our community now we manage to succeed. Accept my appreciation.

To all those who have been sabotaging the initiative, thank you too, you give us the pressure to concentrate on the initiative because of your struggle, may the good Lord comfort you and give you the wisdom.

Finally, as the organizing committees are still preparing and verifying the report, wait patiently for the full update.

Best regards

Emmanuel Gawar Paul
