June 30, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– The selflessness, altruism and caring for South Sudanese by Dr. John Garang and Dr. Riek Machar was and is beyond description correspondingly.

Dr. Riek Machar Teny and Dr John Garang De Mabiour are the exemplary individuals whose sacrifices go an extra mile for the sake of the south Sudanese people. They feel it is their duty to fight for the demands of the majority of their people in any circumstances.

Let’s have a brief description about the differences between the two great leaders in 1991:

  1. John Garang De Mabiour

Dr. Garang is extensively measured the single most influential person in the history of South Sudan, having fought for a unity of Sudan; he fought overpoweringly against the break up and division of modern north-south Sudan.

Garang had been fighting for a “New Sudan” since 1983. He was a strong advocate for national unity: minorities together formed a majority and therefore should rule. Together, Garang believed, they may perhaps replace President Omar al-Bashir with a government made up of representatives from “all tribes and religions in Sudan.” His first real effort for the cause, under his command, occurred in July 1985 with the SPLA’s incursion into Kordofan. Dr. Riek and Dr. John Garang signed an agreement in Nairobi, which brought both of them together, and Garang finally agreed with Dr. Riek that the right to self-determination must be the main goal of the movement (SPLM)

  1. Dr Riek Macha Teny Dhurgon

Dr. Riek disagreed with the SPLA leader John Garang over objectives. Where John Garang at first wanted a secular and democratic but united Sudan in which the southerners would have full representation, Albeit, Dr. Riek wanted a fully independent South Sudan from the rest of the Sudan. Dr. Riek faithfully pursued the rights of the people of South Sudan against all odds, a right to self-determination, which Dr John Garang later vehemently came to understand. Dr. Riek Machar upheld his views and finally won Garang to seek the right to self-determination for the people of South Sudan. Dr. Riek’s altruism and uncomplaining habit allowed his junior to take over the leadership for the sake of peace in 2005 after the death of John Garang, Unfortunately, that scenario made him to be forced to rebel in 2013 by the man he skilled for eight good years.

Now almost all the ill-equipped cadres in the country use the name of Dr. Riek as an advantage to leadership or opulence. The more you accuse him of unfound preconceived notion, the more you are paid or rewarded.

In conclusion,

Hebrews 13:17 stated that – Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that [is] unprofitable for you.

Dr. Riek Machar and Dr. John Garang ought to be respected, remembered timely, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly for their enormous contribution. No doubt that, Dr. John Garang is the father of the nation and the good thing the people of south Sudan have done is putting the picture of Dr. John on the national currency; Meanwhile, Dr. Riek Machar is not just a military and revolutionary hero, but a man of great personal integrity, with a deeply held sense of duty, honour and patriotism toward his people.
