This afternoon, we learnt of the untimely demise of Dr. Luis Richard, an employee of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) based in Ganyliel. The news of his unfortunate demise in Ganyliel reached us via social platforms, and was later confirmed by people in Nyuong land (Panyijiar).

We are deeply saddened by the passing on of this dedicated health professional who had been treating and resuscitating the lives of our vulnerable populace in this difficult time.

Dr. Luis like other humanitarians offering services to the most vulnerable was a rare asset that will forever be missed. His passing is a profound loss to not only his family but also to the Panyijiar health sector and the globe especially during this tough COVID-19 pandemic times.

On behalf of Panyijiar Professionals and workers in all fields, we send our heartfelt condolences to his Family, Friends, Colleagues in IRC and Panyijiar county as a whole.

We strongly urge the authorities in Panyijiar and Ganyliel in particular to investigate the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of this medical Doctor. Doing so appropriately will bar the associated guilt and ghost that might trouble Panyijiar in future and ultimately provide meaning to the deserved legacy of Dr. Luis.

Finally, as we grapple with this irreplaceable loss of Dr. Luis, we continue to call on the relevant authorities to guarantee a secure and friendly working environment for all the International, National and local Professionals and Workers serving in all NGOs operating in our County.
