Nov 18, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — In a bid to accelerate developmental projects in South Sudan, President Salva Kiir Mayardit met with a delegation from the World Bank Group on Wednesday in his office in Juba.Â
According to the press office of the president, the meeting discussed how the World Bank Group, as an institution, could render its support in accelerating the developmental agenda for the people of South Sudan.
In attendance were also the Minister of Presidential Affairs Nhial Deng Nhial and the Undersecretary for Planning in the Ministry of Finance and Planning Ocum Genes Karlo.
During the meeting, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the delegation from the World Bank Group deliberated on several areas for Cooperation and how to implement the critical projects that are crucial for the development of South Sudan.
The world Bank Group shared with H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit its 2 years strategic Plans which they will currently be putting in place to work steadfastly with the Government of South Sudan to accelerate the country’s economic development.
In response, H.E. President Salva Kiir expressed his delight in seeing the World Bank Group reaffirming its full commitment in support to the people of South Sudan.
In his remarks to the media after the meeting, World Bank Group Country Director for Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, and South Sudan Ousmane Dione said they are impressed that H.E. President Salva Kiir “has a good vision” on how to develop the economic sectors that are extremely important for the development of the country.
Ousmane also said, Mr. Kiir raised a significant point which goes with the need for the international community starting with the World Bank Group to support government institutions in South Sudan.
