Women group condemns murder of colleague by husband in Juba

September 5th 2018(Nyamilepedia) — The executive director of the South Sudan Women Advocacy group Anita Richard has condemned the death of a woman killed by her husband in the Malikia neighborhood of the capital Juba on Monday. 

The advocate said the killing of evil in itself calling for a prison sentence to face justice for carting out a cowardice act.

“I can call it evil act by shooting his wife a mother of children with three bullets, this man deserves jails and he much face law and he need to be jailed,” she said.

Anita said the man,  who killed his wife,  would have reported to the police any wrong doing in stead of killing her which has now constituted yet another crime punishable by law.  

Police Gender Officer Captain Paul Ginion said the 56-year-old criminal identified as Anderino Matthew has been arrested and investigation as to why he killed his wife has been ongoing. 

“The criminal shot his wife to death using three bullets in her body. One gunshot is in the leg,  the the two other on her chest,” Andrea said.  

He stated that the criminal has been charged under article 206 of the South Sudan Penal Code Act of 2008.

It stated that “whoever causes the death of another person commits the offence of murder, and upon conviction be sentenced to death or imprisonment for life, and may also be liable to a fine; provided that, if the nearest relatives of the deceased opt for customary blood compensation, the Court may award it in lieu of death sentence with imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years.”
