October 9th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The wife of detained human rights activist and youth leader Peter Biar Ajak said her husband has not been released as some media houses in the capitasl Juba early this week.
The Juba monitor reported early this week that Peter Biar Ajak, a renowned human rights activist and youth leader who was arrested at Juba International Airport while heading to Aweil, was released.
However, Nyathon James Hoth, the wife of the South Sudanese activist exclusivily told the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday that her husband has not been release saying the report published by the Juba Monitor, a Juba based daily newspaper, was not true.
On Sunday morning, rioters told the Nyamilepedia that Peter Biar Ajak was still in the national security headquarters where riots took place confirming that he has infact not been released.
However, senior government officials told the Radio Tamazuj this morning that the government has promised that all the political detainees will be released, a strong demand by the prisoners which led to their military standoff with teh security forces on Sunday morning.
Currently, there are a number of morethan 300 political prisoners in the capital Juba awaiting final release following a presidential degree for the release of the political detainees in line with the September 12th agreement.
