April 12, 2017(Nyamilepedia) ——- Maj. Gen. Matur Chut Dhol, the former Governor of Lake State and the current governor of a newly created Western Lake State, collapsed on Sunday after receiving sad news that another brother has succumbed to death in South Sudan conflict.

Matur has lost his younger brother, Col. Abraham Bol Chut Dhol, who was killed alongside Gen. Peter Par Jiek and 12 of their bodyguards in South Sudan’s Wau State  in Baggari County.

While Brig. Gen. Peter Par Jiek was the government head of military operations in Wau, Col. Abraham Bol Chut Dhuol was the director of logistics.

The two were killed when they felt into an ambush, laid by a faction of the main armed opposition, SPLA-IO, near the capital, Wau.

According to family members, the death of Col. Bol was a tragic news to Chut Dhuol family, especially his elder brother, Maj. Gen. Matur, who has been struggling to maintain power in his state.

Matur was hit by a similar death in 2014 when his elder brother, Apareer Chut Dhoal, was ambushed and killed in Lake state.

Apareer was the Paramount chief representing three chieftaincies of the Athoi clans of Agaar Community of Rumbek East County.

Unlike in the death of Col. Bol, which provoked retaliation and door-to-door killing of minority Fertite and Luo tribes in Wau, the death of Paramount Chief Apareer was attributed to Dok Maker Mabor, a fellow dinka tribesman, who was sentenced to death.

Lakes State has been at the heart of lawlessness in the country and Governor Matur bears most of the blames. He is being accused of lynching opponents and those who are opposed to his leadership.

For the last 5 days, multiple fightings continued in Lake states, some between ethnic groups and others between the warring parties.

At least 24 people, including 2 women and 9 children, were killed on Sunday evening when another fighting broke out in Panhom Toor cattle camp in Ngop County of Eastern Lakes state. 15 others were injured and over 100 cows were reportedly killed.

The fighting in Ngop county was blamed on an armed rival ethnic group from Amadi state.
