August 20, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – The newly appointed governor of South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state, Ms. Sarah Cleto Rial has urged unity between the people of Western Bahr el Ghazal state saying she would work to united people irrespective of their political affiliations.

“Yes, I came as governor through the ticket of the SPLM-IO, but I am a governor for Western Bahr el Ghazal,” Cleto said. “However, I am coming to unite all of you. There is no need for favoritism based on ethnicity or political affiliation.”

Cleto said that some people within the security forces have continued to commit crimes against the people of Western Bahr el Ghazal state saying people are still being arrested and tortured despite the peace agreement.

“We are implementing a peace agreement. The peace agreement says we must protect our citizens. However, there are still some people who continue to terrorize our people. Who continue to arrest and torture civilians,” Cleto said.

“If there is to be any problem, we must sit and resolve it. This a time for peace and a time for reconciliation and forgiveness so that we put our hands together and go forward,” the only female state governor in the country added.
