March 29th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former army chief turned rebel leader, Gen. Paul Malong Awan, said in a statement issued early this week that the last week’s attack against Wau natives was politically motivated and meant to silence certain section of South Sudanese communities.
Last week, an attack against Wau civilians from Warrab pastoralists let to killing of 15 innocent civilians most of whom were women and children.
“The attacks directed on an unarmed civilians by the government forces disguising as nomadic pastoralists are aimed at jeopardizing the already bad state of the affairs,” Malong said in the statement he signed by himself.
He said his South Sudan United Front/A “condemns such incidents with the strongest terms possible.”
He said the death of the innocent civilians at the hand of armed men is an act of terror that is mean to silence certain section of South Sudanese community.
“The death of more than 11 unarmed civilians and 16 others wounded among whom were children and women is an act of terrorism meant to subjugate into complete silence a section of the society,” he said.
“The attacks directed against some sections of South Sudanese societies are politically motivated and are reasons for land grabbing and are the basis of President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s recent travel to Bahr El Ghazal,” he added.
