April 10th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudanese refugees living in Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp has reported shortage of water for the last five days saying the United Nation Refugee Agency (UNHCR) which is running the camp has yet to give reasons for the water shortage.
A South Sudanese refugee living in the camp told Nyamilepedia that the camp has been in crisis provoked by water shortage since five days ago.
“The camp has been badly hit by shortage of water for the last five days. Residents here have been raising complaints that majority of them are having difficulties getting the supposed daily water minimum of 20 liters per household,” the residence who preferred anonymity told Nyamilepedia.
He added that a human being can not survive without water for more than three days.
“A human being can survive a week without food but cannot live for five days without water”
Kakuma refugee camp is one of the largest in Africa and is ran by the UNHCR representation in Kenya.
