Juba, South Sudan,
June 22, 2021 – South Sudan Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster Rebecca Nyandeng Garang has presided over the official opening of the Christian Temple Church in Juba in the Magateen suburb.
This comes after she was invited to grace the opening ceremony of the Christian Temple Church.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia on the Vice President’s official Facebook page, Nyandeng says the church was built by the family of the late Peter Kulang, with the aim of using faith to unite communities.
The Vice President also called on believers around the world to pray for South Sudan adding that the country can develop in no time if people learn to embrace one another.
“This country can develop rapidly when we learn to have love and respect for one another,” reads the statement.
“The opening of the church was attended by senior government officials including Minister of Labour and Industrial Development, James Hoth Mai and the Minister of Petroleum, Puot Kang Chuol”, the statement added.
The General Overseer of Christian Temple Church, Reverend Simon Deng Lual, said the church will do its best to unite people as one family.
Nyadeng is a widow to the late Dr. John Garang De Mabior, the revolutionary leader who led the SPLM/SPLM before his death in 2005.
She was appointed as first female Vice President on the ticket of the Former Detainees following the signing of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS).
Last month she opened a producing center of face masks and over the past two weeks, she donated thousands of face masks to the entire country with exception of three administrative areas which she pledged to work on until the areas receive face masks to help protect against the coronavirus.
