July 23rd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Violent protesters in Maban county have set on fire, offices belonging to the United Nations agencies on fire and vandalized UN vehicles, multiple sources confirmed.
The youth, according to some sources were protesting the development employement rate in the county accusing the aid agencies of discrimination on the ethnic basis when it come to employment .
WFP warehouse was allegedly set on fire, assets reportedly belonging to other UN agencies and partners were looted when the youth went on a rampage in the entire area this afternoon.
South Sudan has plunged into unnecessary chaos, with serious unemployment on the rise at an unprecedented pace in the country. The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) today 23/07/2018 said it had given sanctuary to thousands of civilians across the country.
“A total of civilians who are still seeking safety in six Protection of Civilians (PoC) sites located on UNMISS bases is 198,444 including 114,652 in Bentiu, 24,415 in Malakal, 39,198 in Juba UN House, 2,300 in Bor, and 147 in UNMISS base and 17,732 in the area adjacent to UNMISS in Wau,” said a stament by the UNMISS today.
