July 30, 2021- The Deputy Governor of Upper Nile State, James Tor Monybuny, has met the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny in his office in the capital Juba to discuss a range of issues, including the restoration of the broken social fabric.
The Deputy Governor briefed the First Vice President on the general situation of the state.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Mr. Tor said they discussed issues pertaining to the progress of the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) in Upper Nile State.
In his capacity as the State’s Deputy Governor and SPLM Interim Chairperson, the Deputy Governor said, he assured the First Vice President of his commitment to work jointly with the SPLM-IO and other political parties that are signatories to the agreement in Upper Nile State to ensuring that peace prevails in the state.
According to the statement, Mr. Tor reaffirmed the willingness and determination of the Upper Nile State leadership to implement peace in texts and in spirits.
“Hon. Monybuny has also reassured the people of Upper Nile State, the seriousness and determination of the state leadership about the implementation of the peace agreement, provision of services, and restoration of the social fabric,” the statement says.
Monybuny was appointed as Deputy Governor of Upper Nile State on the ticket of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) on 29 January 2021 deputizing Abudhok Ayang Kur, Governor of Upper Nile State who was appointed on the ticket of the SPLM-IO.
