Upper Nile conference in Juba calls for federalism, supports current 32 states

May 26th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The regional conference of the Upper Nile region concluded in Juba on Saturday called for the support of the current 32 states.

The conference also said it wants the application of the federal system of governance in the world’s youngest nation.

“…. supports the current 32 states and Abyei Administrative Area as sub-units of the federal system,” said a document issued by the South Sudan’s National Dialogue Steering committee.

The conference conducted in Juba between 20-25 May added that it “recommends the creation of more states as needed to meet the legitimate aspirations of the [South Sudanese] people.”
