July 1st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s peace talks in the Sudanese capital Khartoum have witnessed, during the last two days, an unprecedented progress as delegates embark on creating passage that may enable them end the nearly five-year old civil war, sources told the Nyamilepedia this afternoon.
A South Sudan government official told the Nyamilepedia on Sunday afternoon from Khartoum that the warring parties are making a progress that they have never made during the last phase of the High-Level Revitalization Forum in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
“The talks in Khartoum is witnessing a unprecedented progress that it never witnessed during the HLRF in Ethiopia. The warring parties are really can be seen mindful of the situation their people are undergoing back home,” the official said on the cover of anonymity.
Another official representing the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) told the Nyamilepedia that the parties are making progress but did not disclose in what respect the parties are making consensus.
“The parties are making progress well and all the discussion are going thoroughly but I can not telling you what respect because we are yet to conclude the talks,” he said.
President Kiir and rebel prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon signed on Wednesday a permanent ceasefire agreement after a two day talks hosted by the Sudanese President Field Marshal Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir.
The ceasefire came into force on Saturday night but was violated after the opposition said they had been attacked by troops loyal to the country’s President Salva Kiir.
