December 8, 2021—The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has appointed a new Deputy Special Representative of the UNMISS to South Sudan.
In a statement extended to the media, António Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, announced the new official who will also serve as a Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the host country.
“The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has announced the appointment of a new Deputy Special Representative in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan”, reads the statement obtained by Nyamilepedia.
The UN Secretary-General has named Ms. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, who hailed from Liberia to succeed Alain Noudéhou of the Republic of Benin.
“Ms. Sara Beysolow Nyanti of Liberia succeeds Alain Noudéhou of Benin, who moved to Mali as Deputy Special Representative for the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission and Resident Coordinator”,the statement said.
Ms. Nyanti served as diplomat and Humanitarian aid in different capacities in many countries across Africa.
“Ms. Nyanti has most recently served as UN Resident Coordinator in Nepal and previously served as UNICEF Representative in Yemen and in the Gambia”, the statement added.
