July 12th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, said on Wednesday, that he was appalled by the findings released by the (OHCHR) of yet more brutally violent attacks, including sexual violence, on civilians in Unity State.

The UN Chief strongly condemned the horrific acts committed against civilians by the SPLA across the country saying they amount to gross violations of international law and would amount to war crimes.

“Appalled by recent reports on yet more brutally violent attacks, including sexual violence, on civilians in South Sudan. These are gross violations of international law and may amount to war crimes. All perpetrators must be held accountable” he said in a post on twitter.
On Tuesday, the OHCHR released a shocking report of war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated against civilians in the opposition-held towns of Mayandit and Leer between April and May.
The release of the report, which detailed how government troops killed 232 civilians and raped as more as 120 women, girl and elderly including lactating mothers sparked a worldwide condemnation.
The findings identified 3 militia commanding officers allied to South Sudan First-Vice President Gen. Taban Deng Gai, leader of the integrated SPLM-IO whose soldiers have been fighting alongside the SPLA forces since his appointment in July 2016
South Sudan warring parties have failed to agree on a power sharing deal proposed by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and his Sudanese counterpart in Entebbe last week.
The Sudanese government on Wednesday presented a similar document known as “ The Post-Entebbe Draft” on which the opposition also expressed reservations.
