October 21,2021—The government of the United States of America has announced its position on the ongoing stalemate between military and civilian components of the Sudanese Transitional Government and pledged to support the demonstrators who are calling for a peaceful and democratic transition in the country.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, the U.S Embassy in the Republic of Sudan says it’s aware of the situation in the country and will support citizens in their call for democratic transition so that the revolution promises are achieved.
” We encourage demonstrators to be peaceful and remind them of the strong U. S. support for Sudan’s democratic transition to achieve freedom, peace, and justice.”, the statement of U.S Embassy in Sudan reads.
Despite the fact that the two components of Sudanese Transitional Government have locked horns, the government of United States of America is urging the two sides to compromise their differences and work together in collaboration in order to put Sudan in the right trajectory that reflects the will of Sudanese people.
“We encourage civilian and military leaders to work together in partnership to overcome their differences and to take the necessary actions to implement the key benchmarks of the Constitutional Declaration” the statement added.
Since the ousting of the Sudanese long-term president Omer Al-Bashir, Sudan has been going through political, economic and constitutional crises despite the peace signed in October last year.
Early this week, Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok said the stalemate in Sudan is not between civilians and military component but it is between those who wants the democratic transition and those who want to get the power through other means.
