Two SSPDF soldiers killed in Mvolo offensives, SPLA-IO fights back.

Dec 18, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — Responding to recent reports of an attack on the SPLM/A-IO  cantonment site in Mvolo county of Western Equatoria State, a senior general of the armed opposition, Brig. Gen. Gabriel Bol Anuer has refuted the claims that the attack was carried out by mere civilians who were branded as “unknown gunmen” in some earlier reports.

According to Brigadier General Bol Anuer, who is the overall commander, the attack was strategically planned by some elements in army after the news reached Juba that the forces in Mvolo cantonment are from Bahr el Ghazal region which is president Kiir’s power base.

Gen. Gabriel Bol said he recently assigned Brig. Gen. Abraham Majur Mapir to take command of Mvolo cantonment but when the news reached Juba then some elements in the army organized a platoon that would be dressed up as civilians to go and attack the cantonment site in disguise to discourage soldiers from Bahr el Ghazal to join Machar’s SPLA-IO forces.

“Doboroboro is a base for SPLA-IO Bahr El Ghazal forces under my command. I recently sent B/Gen. Abraham Majur as new commander for Doboroboro.” Brig. Gen. Bol Anuer said.

“Thus, the news reached out to the regime that there’s present of Bahr El Ghazal forces in Mvolo, so that the plan the attack by covering up as civilians in order to scared the those who are still joining the camp.” He added.

According to the SPLA-IO forces, the attackers lost at least two lives and they were repulsed.

“But our forces commanded by Majur did it well. They left all their belongings behind and run in disarray; two soldiers on their side lost their lives.” Gen. Bol said.

According to local sources from Mvolo, two SPLA-IO soldiers were injured during the fight and transferred to a PHCU in Mvolo for treatment.

“This attack happened at 3 am and two soldiers of IO got injured. I have them now with me in my health care center, but here is a PHCU and the treatment is not whole. We are waiting for the ambulance to take them to the hospital. One of them is in critical condition,” Said Stephen Yusif Clement, a community health worker in Lessi PHCU in Mvolo County,
