December 11th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Two people has been killed and several others critically wounded following a fierce fighting that erupted during the late hours of Monday between two rival sub-clans of the Lou-Nuer in the Kenyan Kakuma refugee camp.

The fighting between the Moor and the Gabal sub-clans of the Lou-Nuer erupted on Monday and lasted several hours according to several source before the Kenyan army and police could rein to separate the two feuding groups.

The most recent clashes between the two sub-clans is a continuation of a previous fighting that was instigated by a disagreement over a football match between players from both sub-clans on December 5th.

The fighting, families of the deceased have told the Nyamilepedia, erupted on Monday in a hospital when families of those wounded during the previous fighting went to see their sons in a hospital manned by the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) in Kakuma refugee camp.

The Lou-Nuer is one of the largest Nuer sub-sections and it is where the Nuer White Army originated. It is made up of many sub-clans that are always on odds against each other.

Our East Africa correspondent who was on the scene covering the clashes between the two communities gave a full account of the event to Nyamilepedia News Desk.

The latest spate of violence and retaliatory attacks among the South Sudanese refugee communities are most likely to result in an increase in insecurity in the Camp.

South Sudan descended into civil war in December 2013 following a flare-up of violence during a national convention for the ruling SPLM party at Nyakuron Cultural Centre in the nation’s capital Juba.

The violence at Nyakuron sparked clashes within different army barrack in Juba and massacres against Nuer the following days leading to protests among senior army generals leading to mutinies igniting the most brutal civil war South Sudan has ever witnessed.
