March 7, 2022— At least three people died and three others sustained severe injuries in a fatal car accident in Nzara County of Western Equatoria State.
According to the area police commissioner, General Albino Utho Marino, the incident occurred on Saturday at around 4:30pm along Sakure- Nzara road.
General Marino said that the truck driver, who was identified as Angelo Bongo a 37-year old who was transporting timber from Nzara’s Sukare’s Payam to Yambio, lost control while negotiating a corner in Bure Angburu village on a high speed, hitting a boda-boda rider.
Among the travelers inside the car, three of them died on spot.
According to Police Commissioner Marino the deceased were identified as Akasha Golna, 29, Musa Daniel, 29 and Ruben Dario, 39 years old.
The injured, which include 37 years-old Alice Valerio, Justin Datiro, 35 and the truck driver, Angelo Bongo, have been admitted at the Yambio civil hospital for medical treatment.
General Albino Utho Marino said the truck has been seized by traffic police in Yambio pending further investigations for the circumstances leading to such deadly accident.
