January 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government announced on Monday that the Troika countries, the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK) and Norway who initially said they will; not fund the revitalized peace agreement have agreed to fund the peace process.

Speaking to journalists in the capital Juba on Monday, South Sudan Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth said they have been informed by the Troika that they are waiting for the government to present their budget.

“They are positively responding and they are only waiting for us to avail them with our budget,” Makuei told reporters on Monday in the capital Juba.

South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny signed a revitalized version of the 2015 peace agreement in September last year to end the ongoing civil war.

The agreement which was signed in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa followed months of intense negotiations between South Sudan’s parties who by the time had until August 5th 2018 to reach a preliminary deal before a final signed on September 12th.

Following the signing of the agreement, the Troika said they will not fund the agreement because it involve those they referred to as “morally corrupt” individuals.
