Early today, Kiir, aboard a Rwandan Airways plane, arrived in the Ethiopian capital while Sudanese Prime Minister Hamdok arrived later in the afternoon.
The Ethiopian premier has separately met the two leaders and a tripartite encounter between the three neighbor leaders will commence this afternoon according to a Sudanese foreign ministry official.
“President Salva Kiir and PM minister Hamdok as well as Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed will meet this afternoon and discuss issues of tripartite interest,” the Sudanese official said under condition of anonymity.
He said the three leaders will discuss the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement in the world’s youngest nation and “will focus on how to resolve pending issues before a unity government is in place.”
