Top opposition leader integrated into SSPM/A.

Juba, South Sudan

February 22, 2022— A prominent opposition leader, Lt. General Japril Tap Gatjiek, the former leader of Western Upper Nile United Front (WUNUF), has joined the South Sudan People’s Movement/Army (SSPM/A) under the leadership of General Stephen Buay Rolnyang along with his party members.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang, the Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of South Sudan People’s Movement/Army (SSPM/A) issued a statement on Friday, 19th of February 2022, integrating the top opposition rebel leader with all his members into his revolutionary movement.

“.. In exercise of the authority vested in me under article 42 and 52 of the constitution of the South Sudan People’s Movement/Army 2021, I, General Stephen Buay Rolnyang, Chairman of the NLC/NEC, SSPM and Commander-in-Chief of SSPA, do hereby integrate Lt. General Japril Tap Gatjiek, the former leader of Western Upper Nile United Front (WUNUF) along with his party members into the SSPM/A with effect from (WEF) 1/2/2022 “, General Stephen Buoy Rolnyang said in a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia.

Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang founded his political party last year following his defection from South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) led by Gen.Paul Malong Awan citing lack of clear vision from SSUF/A and high possibility of Gen. Malong to rejoin forces of SSPDF.
