January 30th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Chairperson of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) Gabriel Changson Chang said on Tuesday that his group believes that there is no room for the return of the country back to war after the parties signed a peace agreement.

South Sudan government and opposition groups signed a revitalized peace deal in September last year in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to end the ongoing five-year old brutal civil war in the country.

Speaking to the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporations (SSBC) on Tuesday in Juba following a meeting with President Salva Kiir at the President Palace J1, the leader of the fractured SSOA said his group is committed to peace deal signed last year with the government.

“We assure the President that we, as members of SSOA we are going to fulfill our commitment to the agreement and to its implementation,” said Changson who said the presence of almost all SSOA leaders in Juba shows the alliance’s commitment to peace.

He said there is no room for the return of the country to war saying the only way available for South Sudanese is to move forward with the implementation of the agreement.

“We want to demonstrate that there is no room for war, there is no room for going back [to war]. The only way for the people of South Sudan is to move forward with the peace agreement,” he added.
