February 26th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Prominent South Sudan holdout opposition alliance leader, General Thomas Cirilo Swaka said on Monday that the international community should indict President Salva Kiir for the ongoing fighting in Yei River state.

Swaka who was speaking to the VOA’s South Sudan in focus on Monday said the ongoing fighting which he accused the government of orchestrating is sending hundreds of people to the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.

“South Sudan government forces under Salva Kiir is the one now attacking the forces of the National Salvation Front and the South Sudan National Democratic Alliance. The government in Juba has been preparing to send forces to the roads leading to Eastern Equatoria,” he said.

Cirilo said as the government was preparing to attack them early, they informed peace monitors and the  international community about then pending attack but no one from them said or acted to prevent the government troops from attacking them which he said had led to massive displacement.

“They have been preparing to attack us so we have been warning the people and informing the international community, the IGAD, JMEC and CTSAMM but nobody was giving any comment and saying anything about this until the forces of the government started to attack us,” he added.
