Feb 3, 2018(Nyamilepedia) —- The Nuer community in the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands has changed her leadership as per 2018 Electoral Decision-Act.

According to the new leadership, led by Wal Bichiok Wur and Lila Chuol Bidoang, the incumbent Chairman and Deputy Chairman, respectively, this change came into effect after numerous consultations between members of the community and Thomas Wakow Yak, the former chairman and his deputy, Simon Gatdet Peter, who have both moved to the United Kingdom.

Thomas Wakow Yak served as the Chairman of Nuer community in the Netherlands for many years before he moved to England in July 2014.

The new chairman explains that his former boss’ move came as a result of European Labor Law, which allows citizens to migrate freely to any member state of the union, and that gave Simon Gatdet Tuach, his deputy, a chance to act automatically as the new chairman in his absence.

Before their term ends, however, Simon Gatdet also decided to join his boss in the United Kingdom, which created what they described as “a huge leadership vacuum” until Wal Bichiok Wur decided to come in as a volunteer to fill the gap.

On January 27th, 2018, the Nuer Community in the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands, came together and held elections.

“After consulting with the founding leaders and members of the community on the way forward, a comprehensive electoral decision was made on 27 January 2018 in Amsterdam which put Wal Bichiok Wur and Lila Chuol Bidoang in charge to succeed the former regime as Chairman and deputy chairman.” Parts of their press release explains.

“Therefore, we would like to announce it to the press, Nuer Community at large and other political stakeholders and to the world to officially recognize Wal Bichiok Wur and Lila Chuol Bidoang as Chairman and Deputy Chairman who succeeded the previous administration.” The Nuer Community of  the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands confirms.

The Nuer Ethnic group, which is made up of more than 7 sub-tribes, is the second largest group of South Sudan’s 64 major tribes.

The Nuer are also one of the predominant tribes of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia and due to the conflict back home, the Nuer tribe is now widely spread across developed countries such as the Netherlands, UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Norway.

Millions of Nuer are also displaced to the neighboring countries such as Sudan, Kenya, Uganda and DR Congo by the ongoing civil war.

Like in Netherlands, the Nuer resettled in their newfound homes and set up new administrations to help them solve their problems in their new communities and also to help them contribute to welfare of their community back home.
