Teny briefs South Sudanese over peace deal in Khartoum

October 12th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The head of SPLM-IO National Committee for Security and Defense Angelina Jany Teny who is also the wife of the prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny has briefed South Sudanese living in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Wednesday over the signing of the revitalized peace agreement signed in Addis Ababa Ethiopia in mid September.

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardiit and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon signed the long awaited revitalized peace agreement in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to end the five-year old brutal conflict in the young African country.

Sever sourcestold the Nyamilepedia on Thursday that Teny had briefed a rally organized by South Sudanese expatriates in the Sudanese capital Khartoum urging support for the agreement.

Teny, in her speech told the gathering that the success of the peace agreement lie in the support that should be rendered by the South Sudanese whether at home or abroad.

“The success of this agreement lies in the hand of every South Sudanese citizen whether at home, or right here in Khartoum,” Teny said adding that the ongoing conflict has inflicted an untold suffering for the people of South Sudan adding that there is no any reason for the people of South Sudan to continue to suffer in their quez for peace.

Other senior opposition official told the Nyamilepedia separately that Machar, the leader of the main armed opposition group, is expected to tour the region to mobilize South Sudanese for peace in the young African country.

According to the official who spoke to the Nyamilepedia on the condition anonymity, Machar will visit Egypt, Kenya and Ethiopia but Nyamilepedia could not understand whether Machar would also visit Uganda, a home to one million South Sudanese refugees.
