May 9th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – At least ten people have been killed and several others wounded after inter-communal fighting between feuding Nuer sections continued in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

Several sources told the Nyamilepedia on Wednesday that the Sudanese police was reluctant to intervene leading to the high number of deaths.

The same sources added that the fighting was in Omdurman’s Tamanin district, a Khartoum suburb also known as Iskan.

“Fighting has continued since on Tuesday and since then, ten people has been killed and around fifteen people has been wounded between Bul and Leek clans of the Nuer community,” one source told the Nyamilepedia on condition of anonymity.

The same source said the Sudanese police had to show up several hours after the fighting to collect bodies. He added that rival clans were preparing for further showdown.

“The [Sudanese] police were late and did not show any interest to intervene to separate the two fighting groups. They arrived at the scene of the fighting several hours later after the fighting ended just to collect bodies,” the source added.
