Sudan’s intelligence chief, foreign minister in Juba for talks with South Sudanese President

June 5th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – A high-level diplomatic delegation from the neighboring Sudan arrived today in the South Sudanese capital Juba. The delegation which paid a surprise visit to the South Sudanese capital was led by Sudan’s new foreign minister Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, Sudan’s petroleum minister, Azhari Abdalla and Sudan’s intelligence chief Salah Gosh.

Al-Dirdiri was apointed in mid May by the Sudanese president to replace Ibrahim Gandour who had been dismissed in March following a public comment on the hiking hard currency prices.

It is the first high-level diplomatic visit by Sudanese senior governement officials since Bashir replaced then foreign minister Ibrahim Gandour with the incumbent minister.

Col. Dickson Gatluak Joak, spokesman of troops loyal to the first vice president Taban Deng Gai told the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday that the high-level delegation from the neighboring Sudan was recieved by the acting South Sudan’s foreign minister Martin Elia Lomoro and Director of External Security Thomas Duoth Guet.

“A delegation from Sudan led by the country’s oil minister is in Juba for talks with South Sudanese counterparts and were recieved at Juba International Airport by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Martin Elia Lomoro and Director of External Security Gen. Thomas Duoth Guet,” he told the Nyamilepedia when contacted.

He said the minister were in talks with President Kiir as of afternoon and said they just concluded the talks a while ago.

“They met President Kiir upon arrival and I don’t know if they have concluded the talks and this must be now because they were there with the president a while ago,” he said.
