Nov 2, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – The Sudanese head of the Sovereign Council, Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman al-Burhan, is currently in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, to mint bilateral relationships between Khartoum and Addis Ababa.
According to insiders from Khartoum, the visit is expected to last two days for al-Burhan and his counterpart Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to brush through many bilateral relationships.
Receiving the Sudanese leader, the Ethiopian Prime Minister welcomed Al-Burhan and confirmed that his visit will last two days.
“Sudan’s sovereign transition council chairman General Fattah Abdelrahman al-Burhan welcome to Ethiopia for two days of work visit.” Prime Minister Abiy said.
“I welcome you to Ethiopia for a two-day working visit, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereign Council for the Republic of Sudan.” He added.
A statement released by the Sovereign Council on Sunday reiterated that the official visit was a courtesy response to an invitation from the Ethiopian Prime Minister who extended a friendly hand to discuss issues of common interests between the two countries.
The initiative comes at a time the Sudanese leaders are heavily engaging Washington which is threatening Addis Ababa on the other side in support of the Egyptian rhetorics to blow up the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
Sudan and Ethiopia have also been at odd over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam; however, the new transitional leadership decided to trade more carefully than Egypt over the Ethiopian Dam.
Despite that Ethiopia has filled up the dam, the Sovereign Council is looking forwards to mint the soaring bilateral relations between the two countries saying they are not looking into having further border dispute with Ethiopia
The head of the Sovereign Council is being accampanied by Omer Gamar Eldin the Foreign Minister, Jamal Abdel Majeed, the head of the General Intelligence Service, and Yasir Mohamed Osman the head of the Military Intelligence.
