Sudan’s former leader al-Bashir denies all charges against himĀ

August 19th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Former Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir has denied any wrongdoing before a Khartoum court today.

Al-Bashir who is facing charges of corruption, money laundering and accepting illegal gifts was ousted in a coup by the military in April following months of unrest with protesters who demanded that he leave power.

Protests began in Sudan in April in the town of Atbara initially due to hike in bread price and deteriorating economic situation before turning anti-Bashir.

Speaking before the court today, Al-Bashir denied any wrongdoing saying all the money found at his house following his arrest were grants from foreign leaders including King Salman of Saudi Arabia’s son Mohamed Bin Salman.

“The amounts found in my possession have nothing to do with the state. They were granted by Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman and Khalifa Bin Zayed of UAE,” Al-Bashir told the judges.

In regards to his properties, al-Bashir said he only have a house in Kafouri neighborhood and a farm. He said his wife has a plot of land in Kafouri as well and a car.

Al-Bashir who was represented by 100 lawyers told the judgeĀ that all the money he had I’m his possession was taken by General Abdel Rahim Daglo, the brother of General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo who is the deputy chairman of the ruling military junta.
