November 4th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Sudan’s former President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir will be handed over to the International Criminal Court (ICC), a senior official of the ruling Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) said Sunday.
Ex-chairman of the Sudanese Congress party Ibrahim al-Sheikh who is a member of the FFC said on Sunday that the alliance have agreed to handover al-Bashir to the international justice once his ongoing trial at home is ended. ‘
Al-Bashir is wanted on war crimes and crimes against humanity in the restive region of Darfur which has been witnessing a bloody conflict since 2003.
“The forces of freedom and change have agreed to hand over ousted President Omer al-Bashir to the ICC, and there is no problem with that,” al-Sheikh told a news conference the FFC held on Sunday.
“If al-Bashir escapes prosecutions at home for the crimes he has committed, he will be punished by the (International) Criminal Court abroad,” he added.
Al-Bashir was removed from the presidency in April this year following months of protest instigated by the country’s fragile economy which has resulted into the rising living condition for the people who saw al-Bashir’s departure would solve the issue.
