Sudanese mediation to present new proposal today

July 9th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The mediation of the Sudanese government which is trying to convince a number of South Sudan opposition groups and the governement to work together to end the war is set to unveil a new power sharing proposal today, Monday, the Nyamilepedia has learned.

The proposal, officials said, come as all the opposition groups namely, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Oppositionm (SPLM-IO) led by former First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) led by Chanson Lew Chang, SPLM-FDs and the national alliance of political parties, have rejected a proposal presented in Entebbe my Ugandan leader Museveni.

The proposal seek to establish a government of national unity that would be let by the incumbent President, Salva Kiir, SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar as the First Vice-President, incumbend First Vice President Taban Deng Gai, as the Second Vice President, incumbent Vice President James Wani Igga as the Thirsd Vice President and a Fourth Vice President, who must be a woman, would be appointed by the other remaining opposition groups.

The government spokesman Michael Makuei Leuth told the Eye Radio on Monday that the mediation will unveil a final draft proposal on power sharing today after the parties submitted their positions.

Makuei said a final peace agreement will be signed in Djibouti this month.
