July 18th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Sudanese mediation is expected to present yet another power sharing proposal to the South Sudanese parties today on the outstanding governance issues.
The Sudanese government unveiled, on Monday, a power sharing agreement to the parties most of whom rejected it. The government threatened to withdraw from the talks to protest what it said was written as if there is no government in South Sudan.
Machar’s SPLM-IO on Wednesday also denied accepting or rejecting the proposal saying it had written to the mediation on unmentioned concerns.
A Source in Khartoum said the mediation has informed them that they will present a final draft today which would be signed by the parties tomorrow. This would be the governance dossier ending impasse to signing peace on July 26th.
“Yes we have been informed that we will be given a document, the last document, and we will be going on it today and we will sign it tomorrow [Thursday] so that a peace agreement is signed on July 26th this year,” a official told the Nyamilepedia in Khartoum on the cover of anonymity.
Another source said the government has rejected the one already with them and is awaiting the other one before taking a final decision whether to continue on the talks or withdraw.
“Well we [government] have rejected the first one given on Monday, we are waiting to see whether the new one and that of Monday look the same or not and after that we will decide whether we continue [the talks] or not,” the official also said.
