November 6th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The governments of Uganda and Sudan have agreed to force South Sudan parties to adjourned the unity government formation and extend the pre-transitional period for another six months, the Sudanese media reported.

A senior Sudanese government official was quoted by the al-Ain News as saying that delegations of Sudan and Uganda have met and agreed to extend the pre-transitional period for six months and that the parties – especially the government – would be forced to suspend the planned government formation.

“The Sudanese-Ugandan mediation held intensive consultations and reach[ed] an agreement on a new deadline for formation of the transitional government between President Salva Kiir and main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar,” the Sudanese website reported quoting unnamed official.

“The parties (Ugandan and Sudan delegations) discussed extending the deadline for government formation to a period between six or eight months but agreed eventually on a six-month extension,” the official was further quoted as saying.

The meeting set for Thursday between Kiir and Machar will only discuss the progress made and how to expedite the implementation of the remaining issues so that a unity government is formed once the latest six-month extension expire.
