August 27, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – The chairman of Sudanese Sovereign Council Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has threatened to redeploy troops to disputed areas with South Sudan and Egypt.

Al-Burhan who took over power following the forceful takeover of power from Omar al-Bashir in April 2019 made the remarks during an address to members of the Sudanese armed forces at Wad Sayedna in Khartoum’s Omdurman district.

“A day will come when the Sudan Armed Forces will raise the flag of Sudan in the greater Fashka, Halayib, Shalaten, Joda and all the disputed areas,” al-Burhan said in the address on Monday.

“We want to see our army get back those areas so that Sudan can take control of all areas across the country,” he added.

South Sudan has unresolved dispute on areas in its border with Sudan including but not limited to Abyei, Mile-14 or Kiir Adim. They also include Joudat Al-Fakhar, Jebel al-Migainais, Kaka, and Kafia Kingi.

On its northern border, Sudan dispute the Halayeb triagle, and Jebel Oewnat with Libya and Egypt as well.
