November 17th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Sudan has set a date to announce the verdict against ex-president Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir who has been under trial since his ouster from the leadership of the country in April this year.
Al-Bashir who came to power through a military coup on June 30th 1989 was ousted by the military following a wide-spread protest instigated by hike in price of basic services in April this year.
He has been on trial over charges such as possession of huge foreign currencies. The court has set November 24th as the day for filling of the indictment and the defense set to return to court on December 8th.
The announcement was made by the judge of the court which is running the trial of the former Sudanese president on Saturday in the country’s capital Khartoum. Last week, the court charge al-Bashir on the 1989 coup which brought him to power.
