October 26, 2021—-The head of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan announced that the country’s constitution will be drafted again in order to incorporate the other missing provisions in the constitution.
This comes after Gen. Al-Burhan addressed the nation yesterday suspending the constitutional operation, dissolving the Sovereign Council , government structures and putting the country under the state of emergency.
Gen. Al-Burhan, who has been in a political stalemate with pro-democracy group led by the overthrown Hamdok for months, justifies the military take over of the government, saying the wrangle between two forces put the future of Sudan into uncertainty and as such one side should win to restore the needed freedom, peace and equality in the country.
The military leader, who is now in charge of the country. said Sudan will have another constitution and a new legislative body that will be established.
“The country’s constitution will be rewritten and a new legislative body will be formed”, Gen. Burhan said yesterday in his address to the Nation.
In a televised address to the Nation yesterday, Burhan announced that the armed forces will continue completing the democratic transition until the power is handed back to civilians and elect new government.
