August 19th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Parties to Saturday’s agreement in Sudan have delayed the formation of the Sovereignty Council (SC) after differences engulfed the Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) over nominees to the council, sources with knowledge said.
During the early hours of Monday, the spokesman for the ruling Transitional Military Council (TMC) General Shams al-Din Kabashi said in a statement that the dissolution of the ruling military junta and the formation of the Sovereignty Council had been delayed.
This, he said, was done upon the request of the protest organizer FFC which is reportedly in a situation of misunderstanding after some groups that makes up the opposition umbrella expressed their rejection to nominees for SC already submitted to military council.
“Some people withdrew some names from the military council without consulting the rest of the group and this has led to a misunderstanding between members but it is being handled properly,” one source said.
