January 15th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Calm has returned to the Sudanese capital Khartoum after a day of fighting between members of the Sudanese army and members of the General Intelligence agency who protested reforms, sources have said this morning.

Yesterday, fighting broke out in Bahri’s Kafouri area between Sudanese army and members of the intelligence services who tried to resist reforms. The fighting lasted all day as it intensified to several areas north of the capital.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, several residents of Khartoum said the fighting has been ended after government apprehended those resisting the said reforms.

“The fighting has stopped and calm has returned. The soldiers of the intelligence service who were resisting reforms have been arrested,” one source said on condition of anonymity.

Another source said the fighting subsided at midnight and no gunfire could be heard since.

Yesterday, deputy chairman of Sudan’s sovereignty council Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo accused former intelligence chief Salah Abdallah Gosh was “behind the plot and there are many active and retired military officers supporting him.”
