November 23rd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A senior Sudanese government official is saying that his country is being sidelined in the reunification process of South Sudan’s rival forces.
South Sudan government and opposition groups signed a peace agreement in September last year to end the war.
The agreement provided for the reunification of the rival forces to form a one united national army, police and national security.
Sudan and Uganda are guarantors of the peace agreement. Last week, Museveni sent his air force chief to South Sudan to oversee the reunification process of South Sudan’s government and opposition forces.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this morning, a Sudanese official said his country was not consulted and has no monitors on the ground to oversee the reunification process saying such unilateral actions violates the agreement.
“The Republic of Sudan has not been invited to the monitoring and overseeing of the formation one South Sudan army,” a senior Sudanese official told the Nyamilepedia from the capital Khartoum.
“Sudan is a guarantor to the revitalized agreement and if there were to be anything, this country should be informed,” he added.
