Oct 30, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — The two Sudanese nations, South Sudan and Sudan, are coming to terms to suspend visa restrictions between the two sisterly countries.
The leaders of the two countries agreed during the recent meeting between the Sudan’s Vice President of the Sovereign Council, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and a delegation of the South Sudanese leadership led by the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Anjelina Teny.
According to this new agreement, citizens of the two countries will not be required to get a visa to travel back and forth.
Hon. Teny reviewed the 2012 Cooperation Agreement, and in a discussion with Sudan’s Defence Minister, Hon. Yasin Ibrahim, agreed to reopen up the boarders between the two countries for the first time since South Sudan got her independence.
While the lifting of visa restrictions was agreed upon on Wednesday in Khartoum, the reopening of the border was initialed in the commercial city of Kosti in White Nile State earlier this week.
Speaking in length at the event in Kosti, South Sudan’s Minister of Defence assured that her government is ready to reopen the borders and remove visa restrictions so that the two sisterly nations can enjoy free travel and benefits from trade between the two countries.
